Illinois Responsibility Discharge Packet

The Responsibility Discharge Packet contains information for people being released from prison.  This responsibility discharge packet has a wealth of information for anyone, but especially for people coming out of prison.  Information on health care, information on jobs, information of education and training and also information on housing are included.  Also, in the packets we were able to put in condoms and lubrication.  We were funded to put out 35,000 of these packets to give to people who are coming out of prison.

Since we call this a responsibility packet it means the role to recovery for our people coming out of prison is, “it’s their responsibility to go inside the packet and pull out the information that fits them or their family members.  We want to make sure people understand we can put this all together, but unless a person is responsible enough to go into the packet and pull out the information that fits them, then they can use to help themselves and their families … then it is of no use for them.

We were also fortunately to go statewide.  This is a statewide project it goes all the way to Waukegan, Rockford all the way to Springfield and even as far as Marion, Illinois.  In our directory we were able to compile over 350 agencies that do re-entry work for people coming out of prison.  We have the information here all you have to do is go through the directory and find the location where you live.  It is broken up into different districts and it will show you where the districts are.

You can find information about services in healthcare, information about re-entry services and CBO’s, which are Community Based Organizations that are located in your district.  The majority these organizations are being funded to service you.  So we would like for people being released from prison to get these packets in their hands so they can help themselves and their families.
