About Us
The Mission of Men and Women in Prison Ministries Universal House of Refuge Center (M&WIPM/UHORC) is to provide services that will promote spiritual and cultural awareness, health education, substance abuse counseling, family development, male/female development, youth development, support groups, and prison ministry through outreach and self-help programs on a community-based level.
M&WIPM/UHORC provides prison ministry and outreach workshops designed to walk community and faith-based organizations through the process of creating and maintaining effective prison ministries.
In addition, we provide workshops and trainings for the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, families of the incarcerated and the community at large.

Hilda RichardsHilda Richards (EdD, RN) has had an exciting career. While completing all her academic degrees BSN, MED, MPA, and EdD) in New York City, she helped create a community based psychiatric center in Harlem, and was on the team which opened Medgar Evers College, CUNY, in Brooklyn. (Recently she received an honorary doctorate from this distinguished institution.) She then went to Ohio University, as dean of the College of Health and Human Services, becoming their first African American and female dean. Then on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as provost and academic vice president. From there Dr. Richards moved to became chancellor of Indiana University Northwest, one of the eight campuses of Indiana University. During all these years, she was active in the National Black Nurses Association, becoming its eight president. Now retired, but still very active. She is on board of The Aids Foundation of Chicago, is a hospice volunteer, and president of Men and Women for Prison Ministry. |

Rev. Doris GreenReverend Doris Green is not new to the grassroots fundraising process. Starting the non-profit organization Men & Women in Prison Ministries along with the Universal House of Refuge Center, Rev. Green's passion lies in providing community-based services that promote spiritual and cultural awareness. She has over 27 years of experience in substance abuse counseling, health education with a special emphasis on HIV/AIDS,family development and prison outreach ministries |
